Rediscover Joy With Birth Trauma Counselling

When approaching the birth of a precious baby, most of us have expectations of how the experience will unfold. We hope for a smooth and problem-free birth and may wish for a natural process. Unfortunately, labour and giving birth are often not what we anticipated. The experience can be traumatic and require birth trauma counselling.

What Is Birth Trauma?

Birth trauma is acute post-traumatic stress experienced during or after childbirth. It can be emotional or physical and may involve a lack of support or dignity, complications, obstetric violence, an emergency C-section, or other distressing experiences. Sometimes, injuries during birth can cause birth trauma.

When this happens, the arrival of your little one can be a distressing experience that can cause fear and anxiety. As a result, you may feel numb, angry, depressed, hypervigilant, or guilty after giving birth and may even experience panic attacks.

How Therapy Can Help With Healing From Birth Trauma

Birth trauma therapy from our caring and experienced practitioners can help restore perspective and balance. Our empathetic team will support you while working through these painful, uncomfortable experiences and often intrusive feelings and thoughts. We can help you rediscover peace, confidence, and joy.

Confronting resultant memories and fears can be challenging and emotional. However, with TRTP we don’t relive your birth story when moving towards possible healing. Our therapy can help you understand the events leading to the trauma, adopt ways to heal negative emotions and improve relationships that may have suffered due to the birth trauma.
